This is a French vintage work pant, estimated to be from the 1930s to 1940s.
It has symmetrical reinforcement on the knees.
Also, although there are some damages due to its age, it has been carefully mended, and you can see that it has been worn with care.
I think this is an irresistible item for those who appreciate this as character.
The fabric is cotton, and the knee reinforcement is said to be indigo cotton.
All the buttons are old, and the button fly part has all old French military metal buttons for some reason.
I don't think it's military, but it may have been used for that purpose.
I purchased this from Yu-min at the pop-up shop of Yu-min & Kiuty, who are famous as vintage clothing YouTubers.
There are no belt loops, but there are suspender buttons. I was the right size without a belt, so I wore it without suspenders. I think it will fit most people as I have a relatively standard build.
