Italian born pianist Aldo Ciccolini began his performing career at the age of 16 in 1941, and in 1949 won the prestigious Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud piano competition in Paris. He became a French citizen in 1969 and has done much to champion the piano music of French composers Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy and Erik Satie, as well as less prominent composers such as Jules Massenet and Alexis de Castillon. On the rare, classic album, "The French Romantic Piano of Aldo Ciccolini," originally released in the early 1960's, Ciccolini explores the music of Cesar Franck, Claude Debussy and Emmanuel Chabrier. Vintage recording, newly remastered.
