The Precision Brand proprietary elastomer slotted shim has an opaque blue color with 0.020" thickness, meets Federal Specification L-P-535, and has a standard tolerance. The proprietary elastomeric plastic material fills irregular gaps by compressing to a thickness of 0.0175" and absorbing up to 0.010" of angularity, which helps fix angular soft foot alignment problems. Angular soft foot is an irregular or uneven gap between the foot of a motor, fan, or blower, and its base; if not corrected, it can cause vibration, misalignment, and repeatability problems. The shim is color-coded for thickness identification. Shims are thin pieces of material placed between objects for a variety of uses, including added support, improved leveling, increased insulation, tighter seals, or better spacing. They also can be used to fill gaps between machine parts that are prone to wear. Shapes include round, notched, slotted, and horseshoe.
