Keris is one of the things that has become a legendary part of the Indonesian culture. Almost every adult has a keris to protect themselves. There are so many types of keris in Indonesia, almost every tribe in Indonesia has its own type of keris.

This particular keris may be considered a "tosan aji" (heirloom weapon), not a new production keris.

Keris like this are very difficult to come by. They are usually found in remote villages which usually keep their ancestors' remains.

There are certain keris that have been filled with khodam (watchman), a kind of spirit that is believed to be inserted into the keris to live there for the keris' authority. But when they have changed hands to someone else who is not the original owner, they will come out of the keris
