Pincushion - Living with Terminal IIH

‘Elise walked into my life as a sick, young woman at bible study. I sat next to her for 90 minutes per week. We shared our struggles as two young adults and leaned on our peers, but eventually on each other. Minutes became hours. I began to see an incredible woman. We found each other connecting outside of bible study and soon, I asked her out. Hours became days. I began to admire Elise and wonder how she could have the strength to live and the overflow to share with her friends, family, and me. She inspired me and I started to fall for her. Days became weeks. We walked and we talked and I accompanied her for a few surgeries, and saw her inner soul. Our journey traveled us through good moments, sad moments, and eventually engagement. Weeks became months, months became years. We married outside in June in Western Oregon and there wasn’t a raindrop in the sky, and the weather was clear. As I write this, we approach our third wedding anniversary and we have known each other for over 6 years. I haven't ever looked up to a person like Elise. I haven't ever admired anyone like this. And to see the strength God has given her is humbling. I am so blessed and I will forever be in debt to my Lord and Savior for the gifts I have in life, the grandest being Elise.
