The 1982 Bread and Roses Festival was held at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California on October 9 and included a large number of well-known performers, including Hoyt Axton. The Bread and Roses Festival was started by Mimi Farina, sister of Joan Baez, to bring musicians and comedians to jails, prisons, hospitals, children’s wards and other locations. From 1977 through 1982 these were annual festivals held at the Greek Theatre, and today they are held across the country.
