This is the Pao-chai (Xue Bao-chai) collector plate. It is the first of twelve in the exquisite "Beauties of the Red Mansion" series, which portray heroines from the classic Chinese novel, A Dream of Red Mansions, and were each limited to 115 firing days.
Created by Master Artisan Zhao Huimin and produced in 1985 by Imperial Jingdezhen Porcelain, it is 8.5” in diameter, weighs 16.9 oz, and features Pao-chai (Xue Bao-chai). A beautiful and perspicacious character fated to a loveless marriage, she was seen by some contemporaries as antagonistic. Her portrayal on this most exquisite of the 12 in the series is remarkable. The plate is new and comes in the original box with documentation.
