Rare, early version of Tetris, often referred to as the 'Minuet' or version 1.0. Limited to release in Japan only (estimated roughly 25,000 units at most at the time of production), this is an extremely rare find in the west, and infinitely rarer in the UK. To put it into context, 35 million copies of Tetris for the Game Boy were sold worldwide, and the Minuet Edition accounts for just 0.0007% of them, and were the first 25,000 copies sold on the planet. The identifying marks of the Minuet version is the spire sitting under both Ls in 'All' on the label - the later version sits only under the last L. Close-up of this in photo #3. This particular cartridge also has a 05 engraving on the cartridge - I tried to photograph it but couldn't get the lighting right. In addition, the game board is another distinguishing feature - the chip is visible and located on the right. Later versions have an epoxy covering the chip, and it's also located on the left. In-game, the music is different. I'm sure you would all recognise the classic Tetris music, however this version features different music, referred to as 'Type-A' There is very minor yellowing to the cartridge plastic but nothing major at all (caused by oxidation occuring by direct exposure to air - further oxidation can be prevented by storing the cartridge in a non-clear box or case when not in use). Overall, it's in very good condition. I've cleaned the board contacts/pins with white vinegar followed by Isopropyl alcohol and so they are clean, free of dirt and gunk, and very responsive.
