Seiko Spirit Titanium AGS (Kinetic) 5M42 – 7B80 – January 1996

This indeed a rare Seiko, the Spirit range was created for the Japanese domestic market (JDM). In 1988 the Epson Corporation, now owners of Seiko, developed the AGS or Automated Generation System. Watches with AGS were powered by a capacitor charged by the owners’ wrist movement. Later, Seiko changed the name from AGS to the more space age “Kinetic”. This watch, being made of titanium is very light on wrist; the watch has been cleaned and lightly polished to improve looks. The sapphire crystal is completely free of scratches. The watch has been fitted with a new Seiko original 30235MYcapacitor so should give years of trouble free service. The watch has been worn on wrist for one week to test and functions well, keeping good time. The quick date change is also fully functioning, as is the power reserve button. The watch measures 36mm width 39mm with crown. Lug to lug is 42mm with a 10mm lug width due to integral bracelet. Depth is 9.6mm. IMPORTANT: If you have never owned a kinetic (AGS) watch they are very different. The capacitor is kept charged by wrist movement, however without wearing the power drains fairly quickly characterized by the second hand ticking at 2 second intervals. If this happens, shake the watch vigorously till the second hand ticks normally, then wear again. PLEASE NOTE: Only buyers from the EU accepted.
