Vintage Biscuit Barrel, Bakelite, Handpainted Anemones Made by Embee c1940s

Selling as a collector's or display item, as unsuitable for food use due to age etc. Attractive vintage plastic biscuit barrel, handpainted with beautiful anemone flowers, and "Biscuits". Made from what is commonly known in the UK as bakelite but different people/countries call early plastics by different names, sometimes based on brands or chemical composition. For this reason, I do not test early plastics. The barrel itself is very art deco colours of soft green and black. It has a lid with a knob. PLEASE NOTE - there is a hairline crack across the lid - see photos. Stable at the moment but is likely to worsen at some point. It could probably be glued or strengthened underneath with tape.  I have priced it accordingly so please only buy it if you are happy with this.Thank you! Under the lid, is a removable grid, with the words 'to dry pellets, place in a warm oven' and dessicant  pellets, designed to help keep the biscuits crisp. PLEASE NOTE - please let me know if you would like me to remove these pellets. Apart from the split in the lid, the barrel is in overall good vintage condition with some signs of wear. Made by EMBEE PRODUCTS originally Mendle Bros. They exhibited in 1947 at the British Industries Fair as Manufacturers of Plastic Fancy Good, Tableware, Salad Servers.
