Afghan import original rare 1970s vintage Kensington Market mixed print embroidered maxi dress

A stunning original 1970s dress, made in traditional Afghanistan style but with more boutique-type fabric - probably made as an export to be sold through somewhere like Kensington Market as there was a big demand for these dresses in the early Seventies. Armpit to armpit measures 36" max but there are no fastenings so would best fit 32"-34" and the length is 58" Fabric is a mix of cottons and possibly silk around the bust. Condition is very good. These pieces are often hand embroidered and made in a less obviously manufactured finish so this is something to bear in mind. There are a few marks and areas where seams have been resewn. There's also the remnants of some hemming tape inside (around the hem and then higher up) where someone temporarily made it much shorter - this is not visible externally, it just feels a little rough to the touch. Sold as vintage.
