This pair of tanagra statues are in fairly good condition with one repair being done to the statue with her tholia on. Her head has been repaired & repair can be seen in included photos.

THESE RARE TANAGRA STATUES WERE CREATED IN ITALY, BY URBANO ZACCAGNINI (UGO ZACCAGNINI'S SON).
TANAGRA'S WERE ORIGINALLY CREATED IN THE END OF THE 4TH CENTURY BY THE GREEKS AS OFFERINGS TO THE DEAD WHEN THEY WERE BURIED. THE BELIEF WAS THAT WHEN THE SOUL/SPIRIT OF THE DEAD CROSSED OVER THE TANAGRA WOULD SERVE AS A COMPANION.
