Offered is an authentic late 19th-century cone-shaped oil can, marked: P Wall Allegheny City Pat Nov 14 1882.
This piece dates to the 1880s–1890s, when Allegheny City, Pennsylvania was an independent city prior to its annexation by Pittsburgh. These oilers were used for lubricating early industrial, farm, and workshop machinery.
The can is empty and retains its original long spout, which is often missing on surviving examples. Constructed of tin/steel with soldered seams and a naturally aged surface.
Condition:
Shows honest antique wear including surface rust, oxidation, and age-related marks consistent with over 130 years of use. Spout unscrews easily, Spout tip appears blocked or closed. The opening is not visible. Item has not been tested or cleaned. Sold as found for display or collection. Please review photos for details.
