Extremely rare "Farmer's Friend" egg carrier with lid made by the Multnomah Lumber & Box Co. In Portland, Oregon. The crate features original black stenciled advertising such as the patent date of Aug. 30, 1898 and maker details. Has a wire handle with a wooden grip and a latching lid. Third side features faded, illegible writing.

Measures 13" L x 13" W x 10" H

This crate was originally made to hold twelve dozen eggs, and was likely used by the distributor, "C.C. Nurton" as a fill-and-return egg crate. The lid features remnants of a Wells Fargo Express Co. shipping label indicating the crate's use to transport goods on the railroad before 1918 (When Well Fargo Express Co. ended). This 100+ year-old authentic egg carrier has a rich history and would make an excellent addition to any late 19th American antique collection.

The crate has a heavy patina and is very worn from age. Damage includes cracks in the wood, missing/rusted nails, chipped paint, faded stenciling.
