Antique cast iron match safe featuring a sculpted dog figure lying atop the lid. This two-piece, solid cast iron piece is painted in a gold-tone finish and has an elongated octagonal form with raised rope-like decoration around the lower half. The lid lifts off to reveal a compartment for matches or small valuables. If I didn’t know it was a match safe I would gave thought it was a salesman sample of a vault. It looks and is shaped like one.
