Vintage Basketville Putney Vermont Lidded Basket: Floral Decor

Putney Basketville Floral Painted Basket. Lidded wood basket with painted flowers. Measures 6 1/2" in height by 11 1/2" long. Excellent condition aside from a little scraping on the latch wood.

This exquisite handcrafted basket is a genuine piece from Basketville, Americas oldest basket company, based in Putney, Vermont. It features a sturdy woven wood construction with a solid wood lid adorned with a vibrant, hand-painted floral bouquet of roses and forget-me-nots. These painted baskets were popular mid-century retail items, often used as picnic baskets, sewing boxes, or even "basket purses" during the 1950s and 60s.
