The work: Whimsical vintage 1978 silkscreen of New York City by Tony Graham is a love letter to the city’s density and its iconic architectural landmarks. This rare work is similar to his popular and much-reproduced Mini Manhattan!! but signage like the Pan Am building are evidence this predates it. From a pen and ink drawing. Laid paper. Plate signed. Approx. 17” x 21”.
The Condition: a couple of smudges of dirt (see detail) as well as a scuff on the image (see detail) otherwise good preowned.
The artist: A native of Pittsburgh, Tony Graham (1933-1993) was a graphic artist known for his paintings, drawings, handcolored silkscreens, prints and posters of New York City. He also owned Newmark Gallery at 1194 Third Avenue.
PLEASE NOTE: this work is pictured framed, but the frame is damaged. The work will be sent unframed and rolled in glassine.
