Vintage Chinese Shiwan (Shekwan) Mudman pottery figurine, measuring approx. 4.5 inches tall. Hand-formed ceramic figure of an elderly wise man / traveler carrying a fan and gourd jug, finished in traditional sancai glazing with green, ochre, blue and white tones. Stamped CHINA on the underside, dating it to the early/mid 20th century export period.
Wonderful character, great glaze tone, and classic Shiwan craftsmanship.
