VTG 1970s Japan New Trends Earthenware Figurine GIRL WITH UMBRELLA Hand Painted

For your consideration is this vintage earthenware figurine made in Japan, and imported and distributed by New Trends, Inc. Very little information for this company exists. According to trademark information, the label adhered to the bottom was placed in service in 1968. Newspapers mentions this company filed for bankruptcy in 1979. The piece would have been produced and distributed between those years. Seller was unable to locate any trade publications indicating the name of the line or collection. This lovely little figurine was made from brown clay, appears to be hand painted, has black beady eyes and an open mouth. She is wearing a flower-child type maxi dress with large sculpted kukui nut lei necklace, popular during that time. She is holding a mauve colored umbrella. Her sculped light brown hair is styled in pigtails with blue flower accents. She measures 2.5 inches long x 2.3 inches wide x 6 inches tall, and weighs 4.8 ounces.
