Vintage Mid-Century Asian Chinese Boy Girl Reading Bookends Chalkware Hollywood Regency

This is a beautiful, vintage pair of Asian-inspired figural bookends, likely dating from the mid-20th century (1950s). They feature a charming boy and girl in traditional attire, depicted as scholars with a stack of books.
The bookends are made of chalkware or a similar composition material, which was popular during this era. They have a hand-painted black finish with gold accents. This style is characteristic of manufacturers like Alexander Backer (AB Co) or those from occupied Japan (Ucagco, Thames).
Condition:
Good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use.
