From the library of Arthur Mitchell, the first African American principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, choreographer and founder of the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Warmly inscribed by Alexander Ukladnikov to Arthur Mitchell: "To my Dear Mr. Mitchell, With my very best wishes, Alexander Ukladnikov, 6/6/1988" In 1988, the Dance Theatre of Harlem performed in the Soviet. The date of the inscription corresponds to the week Mitchell was in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, performing at the Mariinsky Theatre, known during the soviet era as the Kirov Theatre.
