This lens is primarily used in medical settings for oral and skin photography.
It can be used within a range of 1x to 1/11x magnification (0.35m to 1.6m).
The cables for illumination are missing, but you can still take pictures without a strobe.
If you want to use a strobe, you will need to prepare a dedicated cable or use an external strobe.
Medical lenses generally have their F-number change depending on the magnification, and with this product, it's F4 at 1/11x magnification and F32 at 1x magnification.
However, since this product is an Ai model, using a mount adapter with an aperture ring that is compatible with the F mount's G-type allows you to open the aperture to F4 automatically in high magnification scenes such as 1x magnification.
Image 5 is an example of 1x magnification at the usual F32, but image 6 (reference) was taken at 1x magnification with F4 open.
This allows you to avoid light diffraction.
However, please note that it is mechanically impossible to stop down from F4 at low magnifications.
This medical lens is not often available, so please consider it if you want to enjoy it in a unique way.
