Very old metal US civil defense/military helmet, exterior painted brown at some point & was originally white. Old Navy anchor pin on front secured inside(pictured). M1917 helmet from WW1 to some in early WW2 time period broadly.
Inside very pitted & worn, canvas liner that is still there is dilapidated & dry rotted with rusty attachment points. The 6 attachment points are shown on exterior also. No chin strap. "US GOV PROPERTY OCD" still evident on inside rim.
Possible interest for collectors, enthusiasts, reenactment, etc.
