C1920s Japanese Flow Blue Style Transferware Cup & Cracked Saucer Japan TF&C

A delicate blue transferware tea cup and saucer with a lovely scenic centre (sailing ship) and floral decoration. The cobalt has a soft “flow” effect typical of flow blue style wares. Measurements (Approx) • Cup: 6cm tall, 10cm diameter excluding handle • Saucer: 14.4cm diameter Condition • Saucer has a small crack at the rim which goes through to the underside (see photos) • Heavy crazing, especially to the saucer • Surface scratches and general wear consistent with age and use • Three small marks in the centre of the saucer and similar marks inside the cup – consistent with kiln stilt/spur marks from firing supports (manufacturing feature) Marks • Backstamp reads JAPAN with TF&C in a decorative cartouche • The TF&C initials are currently unidentified and may represent an exporter, wholesaler or importer rather than the original factory Please Note Due to the cracked saucer, this set is best suited for display, prop styling, or as a replacement component.
