A stunning and beautiful antique Victorian sterling silver and glass decanter/ claret jug. A truly elegant piece from the mid Victorian era with an unusual but elegant design. The silver chain is used as the way of opening the lid of the decanter by pushing it inwards and down. It has a beautiful curved glass shape with an engraved star design on the base. The sterling silver detailing forms the lid, rim and an unusual collar design part why down the stem of the decanter. It really is a stunning piece of Victorian history and a special antique piece to either share a bottle of wine with or, to have on display as a collectors piece. This piece is fully hallmarked sterling silver. The makers mark of Henry Wilkinson & Co is dated to 1862. Considering this beautiful piece is nearly 200 years old it is in excellent condition. There are no chips, marks of deep scratching the hinge is in full working order with the chain being secure and undamaged.
