William Hillcourt, 'Boy Scout Handbook', 6th ed. (Boy Scouts of America, 1959)

This is the 1960s-edition of the Boy Scout Handbook. It contains an eclectic mix of guidance on woodcraft, first aid, and citizenship. Interestingly, it also contains advertisements, which give a fascinating insight into the period (MANY of the adverts are for firearms). This is a must have item for an historian of Scouting, or collector of Americana. The spine is heavily creased, and there is extensive water damage around the front-edge (not unexpected for a book of this type). However, the binding is strong, and the pages themselves are remarkably clean and not much coloured by age. The previous owner's name is written on the half title page, but this rather adds to the item's charm.
