Museum-quality highly collectible and rare antique Indian silver votive pendant (phul), dating to the 1850-1900 century Deccan region. This large circular repoussé plaque depicts Khandoba, the warrior deity, mounted on a rearing horse and holding his ritual weapon, a powerful and highly recognisable devotional image in Maharashtrian religious tradition. The scene is framed within an architectural shrine-style border, surrounded by a dotted and stitched repoussé edge, with a decorated suspension loop designed for wearing as a protective amulet or offering as a temple votive. These objects were traditionally worn during pilgrimages or presented at shrines as acts of devotion and protection. This is a large-format, high-detail devotional piece, comparable to documented museum and gallery examples. An almost identical example has previously been displayed in Germany, confirming the type as a recognised ethnographic and religious artefact rather than decorative jewellery. Hand-worked silver with deep relief, strong iconography and authentic age patina. Wear and surface marks consistent with genuine age and devotional use. Structure solid and complete. • Material: Silver • Technique: Repoussé / hand-worked • Origin: Deccan region, India • Period: 19th century • Subject: Khandoba on horseback • Size: approx 7.2 cm x 9.2 cm • Weight: approx 26 g • Condition: Good antique condition with age wear and patina This is not a scrap-silver item or decorative pendant, it is a collectible ethnographic devotional artefact, suitable for collectors of antique Indian silver, religious objects, museum pieces, and cultural heritage items. A rare and powerful piece of 19th-century Indian devotional history. Please contact me for more information.
