★ Measurements Frame Size: Approx 34.5" × 28" Visible Image Size: Approx 21" × 14.5" Glazing: Glass front panel ★ Condition Era: c.1860–1890 Condition: Good antique condition Flaws: Visible chips, surface wear, marks and scuffs throughout the frame, consistent with age and handling. Areas of lifting and cracking to the front moulding finish, most noticeable at the top right corner, suggesting historic repainting or later surface treatment. Light marks to the interior of the glass. Reverse shows foxing and general age-related wear. Note: Easel shown in photos is not included. Framing appears later than the print but remains period-correct. Stored for many years and left unrestored. Any mount refreshing would be optional rather than necessary. ★ Details & Features Authentic 19th-century British topographical landscape print titled “Hollington, Sussex”, depicting a wooded hillside and winding path overlooking open countryside with distant coastal views. The composition reflects Victorian tastes for pastoral English scenery, balancing detailed foreground foliage with atmospheric depth beyond. Produced as a steel engraving or early photogravure, using fine linear detail and tonal gradation rather than colour to convey light, texture and recession. Prints of this type were intended for domestic interiors and commonly framed shortly after publication. Presented in a substantial period wooden frame with gilt slip, retaining its original backboard and trade label for T. T. Davis, Picture Dealer & Gilder, Hull (est. 1876). Frame construction and patina align with late Victorian to early Edwardian practices. A genuine antique print, not a later reproduction, valued for age, subject matter and period presentation. Suitable for traditional interiors, studies, libraries or heritage-inspired spaces.
