The original "Chandos" portrait is an oil painting from the early 17th century, possibly by John Taylor, and is the only portrait with any claim to have been painted from life. The print in the image appears to be a 19th-century reproduction, possibly an engraving or mezzotint, which was a common practice at the time. The original portrait is housed at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
