This figurine is 5.5" tall and has no cracks, crazing or blemishes, it is in MINT Condition. The trademark (5 Last Bee) places the manufacture of this piece Circa 1972 – 1979. Created in 1935 from one of Sister Maria’s sketches by master sculptor Arthur Moeller. It was originally called “Night Watchman” and was one of the first Hummels ever made for sale in 1935!
Sister Maria had a love of children, and a whimsical nature, sketching them in various situations. As always, Sister Maria draws to depict the daily items and special events in children's lives. This little boy is on his way to work with his ladder on his right side, his hat on his head and his tools on his left side to balance him. By the look on his face, he appears to enjoy work!
