This figurine was sculpted by master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek in 1956 from one of Sister Maria’s sketches. It is 4.75" tall and 3.5” wide. has no cracks, chips, repairs, or blemishes, however there is slight crazing on the bottom (see photos). It is in pristine condition and TMK 5 (Last Bee) means it was made Circa 1972-1979.
Sister Maria had a love of children and a whimsical nature; she sketched them in various situations. Here we have a sister and brother sitting together to learn their ABCs. They have a chalk board to use, and sister is teaching her brother.
Really a cute piece and with the wonderful art and craftmanship of the Goebel masters!
