This is a skin cast from the neck region of a Tyrannosaurus rex. The original was found in the badlands of South Dakota. The skin was obviously scaly, which probably represents a loss of feathers coinciding with gigantothermy and living in a warmer climate. The ancestors of T-Rex had feathers but it did not. Eutyrannus is the largest Theropod known to have had feathers and also lived in a cooler climate where these would have been advantageous.
