Released in '78, this is the 9th album by pianist Stanley Cowell, a native of Ohio and founder of the prestigious Strata-East label, a cornerstone of . Featuring a two-horn front line with trumpeter Eddie Henderson and trombonist Julian Priester, along with his trusted collaborators on guitar (Clifford Coulter), bass (Keith Hatchel), drums (Albert “Tootie” Heath), and percussion (Kenneth Nash), plus vocalists Loretta Devine and Charles B. Fowlkes Jr., Cowell boldly incorporates electric piano, Moog, and synthesizers on this masterpiece. The floating, sense-filled of "I Am Waiting" is incredibly cool, reminiscent of "Sky High" while taking a approach.
The arrangements, backed by superb sound production, will make you weak in the knees on the track "(Let Me Love You) Let Me Be Me" ◎. The source for "Here I Am" is also incredibly cool, used in "Isaiah Rashad feat. Kendrick Lamar and Zacari / Wat's Wrong" and "Roc Marciano / Here I Am". A masterpiece with no throwaway tracks.
