The Holy War by John Bunyan C1890 Antique Vintage Religious Book

An interesting title from one of the most highly respected religious writers in the English literature canon. John Bunyan's 'Holy War' is an epic allegorical tale in which a war is waged against diabolic forces in order to defend 'Mansoul' - literally the soul of man. Originally published in the 1600s, this late Victorian copy is proof of the allegory's undying relevance to readers the Christian faith. In good condition with the front hinge cracked, corners bumped, a chip to the front free endpaper, and a little tanning in places. Accompanied by a black and white frontispiece illustration. Fully bound in a green decorative publisher's cloth binding, stamped with gilt symbols and titles with black overlaid details, with black endpapers and a fully gilt block edge. 348pg. 19 x 12 cm.
