Hutson has worked with soul and R&B groups centered around chorus, such as The Voices of East Harlem, a chorus group that performs gospel with a pop sound, and The Natural Four, a chorus group from California. The groovy soul numbers A③ and A④ on this album are a direct result of that experience. In addition, the album includes the highly addictive funk tune B④, A①, which was sampled in recent years by American rapper Wiz Khalifa, and "The Ghetto '74," a co-written song with Danny Hathaway, rich in color with horns, strings, and chorus.

A masterpiece from 1976. The funkiest album in Hutson's discography.
A collection of masterpieces, from funk tunes to mellow grooves that shine with outstanding melodies and high-quality songwriting. A③ is a sampling source for MEMPHIS BLEEK.
Sandwiched between the unquestionable masterpieces "Hutson" (1975) and "Hutson 2" (1977), it is not often discussed, but it is of very high quality.
From the opening guitar cutting that grabs your heart, funk number A①, the upbeat birdie tune B② that incorporates a cool disco beat, and the funky & groovy instrumental number B③, these are masterpieces that have never been selected for Hutson's best-of albums. The mellow groove A④ and B②, which are very popular in the free soul scene, have a sorrowful melody that you can't get out of your head, and all songs are masterpieces.
