Bonwit Teller White Fox Pillbox Hat with Pompom Top circa 1962, near mint

Very rare vintage Bonwit Teller fur shop Real White Fox Fur from about 1962. There’s an iconic Pompom top of head Fox Fur decoration, that was rare and, from research, only used by Bonwit for the 1962/1963 season. Blue Label late 1950’s to early 1960’s “BONWIT TELLER” label. Grosgrain ribbon inside hat for structure and sweat protection. Seems like there is only one piece of fur used for this hat, plus the Pompom attachment on top that could be part of the leg/foot. Stored in temperature and humidity controlled vault over the past 61 years. Dimensions: fits a small head only. The manikin in the pictures fits a 7” diameter hat in a comfortable way. The fit for this hat was tight. So again, only a small head pillbox style fit. If this 3” or so tall pillbox hat doesn’t slide down to your forehead, it won’t look elegant like it should. When flat, top of hat is 10” diameter. Weight is 3 ounces. Condition is hardly used near mint. So very MidCentury Modern look, quirky Pom Top. Price Firm!
